Essay No. 2

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5:3).

There are many interpretations of this divine rule. For example, this happens: if a person is smart, courageous, independent, energetic, emotional, persistent, then the Kingdom of Heaven is unlikely to shine for him. Some kind of spiritual fortitude is noticeable in him. And it shines on those who do not possess these qualities or have abandoned them. And they will go to the Kingdom of Heaven after life. Theologians may be outraged by this interpretation. But there are enough examples in life of broken destinies that correspond to precisely this interpretation. Young people after universities or instead of them, to the horror of their parents or for the edification of their parents, are immersed in religion.

I have my own interpretation. Perhaps someone before me interpreted it the same way, I don’t know. I ask myself, who is definitely not poor in spirit? The answer is clear - the clergy. It’s somehow natural to exclude them from the poor in spirit. Christ did not have a good relationship with the clergy in those days. They didn't accept him. So the words “blessed are the poor in spirit” are polemical. They mean: “The truth is not with you.” And addressed to the clergy. Other interpretations seem arbitrary to me. It was necessary to give some explanations, and they gave it. Many years have passed since the time of Christ, Christianity arose, even several branches. And to tell a Christian priest that the truth is not with him, quoting Christ, is completely inappropriate. So further I will not separate priests from other people.

Also, the commandment does not state that all the poor in spirit are blessed. Some yes, others not so much. Well, is the Kingdom of Heaven only for the dead or can it also apply to the living? The commandment was given to living people. She belonged to those who live with God's help, who know that all their talents are from Heaven, and in themselves they are just an instrument. For some of them, this is the meaning of their life and they are happy and blissful. Others are horrified, but can't do anything. One does not argue with Kings, including Heavenly ones. They have to live in two worlds: the ordinary one and under the guidance of Heavenly orders, tips, signs, hints, teachings and the like. Some people adapt, the horror goes away, and they begin to enjoy it. But not everyone succeeds.

The destinies of such people, naturally, develop differently. Some end up in prison, some in a mental hospital, some even die prematurely. Others go into art, science, the battlefield, etc. There are, of course, mixed cases. . Scientific geniuses are sometimes removed from the camps and distributed to other institutions to solve important problems of the military-industrial complex. Many great books and poems were written in prison or exile. Some people of art: artists, musicians, poets spent some time in mental hospitals.

Heaven can open to people in the middle of their lives. There was, say, a doctor or a fireman and suddenly he changed and began to write novels. And he joined the ranks with Chekhov or joined the army of graphomaniacs - it depends on whoever. In Soviet literature, such cases were described extremely rarely. In those days, embodiments were carried out either in labor collectives or in correctional camps. In other Russian literature, embodiments are mainly described as how people degrade. I'm not talking about books about growing up. For example, “Childhood, adolescence, youth” by Tolstoy or “Teenager” by Dostoevsky. It is not about embodiment, but about the formation of a person.

There are also Russian fairy tales. There are a lot of transformations there. But the attitude towards such characters is, if not entirely negative, then cautious. Bears, wolves, dragons can turn out to be good fellows. And even the Frog Princess greatly get on the nerves of her husband, Ivan Tsarevich.

The authorities’ attitude towards such out-of-this-world people is also close to fairy-tale. On the one hand, talents are valued, but on the other hand, controlling the Heavenly influence has short hands. But you can control the blessed bearers of Heavenly messages. Of course, if they do not occupy a very high position in society.

In our country, a vertical power structure has now been built. Compared to the 90s, it's simply wonderful. You can live. But in the cultural sphere it’s not entirely wonderful. Of course, you can create if it is not too expensive and does not require subsidies, space, equipment, or assistants. You can also show your works to people. In the Internet. On networks or on your website. But in real life, not virtually, so that you can communicate directly with real people, it has become difficult. To organize such meetings, you need permission from officials, requests, recommendations, and God knows what else. I understand that there is also control on the Internet. But somehow not so noticeable. So it’s no surprise that almost all passengers on the subway sit with their eyes buried in their smartphones. Perhaps this is how they communicate uncontrollably and culturally.
