Opening day - Pjotr Valius

"Pictures in emigration"

Pjotr Valius, has died in 1972 in Moscow, has been never officially recognized within his life in Soviet Union because his pictures strongly differ from so-called socialist realism. He could show the pictures only at closed, partially illegal exhibitions. The son, Dr. Valery Valius, has managed to take with himself at emigration about half of works. As he wants, that pictures were considered only with art, instead of the political points of view and besides they are not on sale, he manages to show to their public in „the free West" no more than in the USSR.
